HALFWAY THROUGH THE MISSION

Image
It's hard to believe on the 27th of August we hit halfway through our mission.  It's just nine months left.  This next transfer we will have all of our missionaries that worked with us be off their mission.  It's fun to get a text or two after they arrive home and hear how they are doing.   We get to go to the Temple for the Young Single Adults the end of every month.   Last month was our turn to provide dinner for the ones going to the Temple doing baptisms or other temple ordinances after they're finished.    It's especially fun to have our new members get to join us. We asked our sister and elder missionaries to help us serve.  They just got word they can now go to the Temple every other  transfer.  It used to be they could only go when they take a new member for the first time.  There was real excitement over that announcement. Best missionaries ever Great servers Our nephew's son came out as a counselor for FSY....

CELEBRATIONS IN SUMMER

Image
What a great way to head into July...7 months in the mission field and we were invited to join the departing missionaries in two weeks go through a temple session.  We filled an entire session with the office staff, President and Sister Clarke, missionaries and us.  It's one of the largest groups going home.  They will be missed.  I wish I could have taken a picture of the entire celestial room filled with all of the sisters and elders and their companions leaving.  Of course, sisters were crying and we felt the spirit as we knew how much time, effort and emotions have been given to their missions.  We have such good leadership and senior missionaries to associate with.  It was a time when the spirit was so strong.  We will miss Elders Vincent, Fleming, Jacobson, Eliason and Daley.  Sisters leaving were Mecham, Bingham, Walker and Vance.  We have been richly blessed from these wonderful missionaries. JUNE HAS BEEN A JOURNEY

Image
May seemed to fly right by as we celebrate our anniversary of 48 years together.  Mother's Day, Rick's birthday and my 70th birthday just flew by and now we've come to the middle of June.  We got calls from the kids and cute signs via email to put around the house to celebrate. Brett came with Jared close to our anniversary and mother's day.  I had my sister Jeanette and brother Dan and their spouses and Jacob come out on their way home from New York the middle of May.  We had a quick visit but enjoyed being together.  We took the trolley around DC and got off to see the Lincoln Memorial. Our daughter surprised me and showed up and we picked her up from the airport and went straight to an endowment session for a member in our ward.  She got to see the temple with us and find out our Sister missionary in our ward, Sister Hatch, knew our granddaughter when they lived in Washington.  Small world when you live in the church.  She was here and go...

MAGIC IN MARYLAND

Image
When we got here on December 16, 2023 it was definitely winter.  The trees were bare as we drove on their many freeways.  We went back and forth for the Visitor's Center Christmas lights assignment.  We commented several times that we couldn't wait for spring.  It's magic here in Maryland.  We went from the Cherry Blossoms, to daffodils, on to gorgeous tulips especially at the Temple.  We now are in awe as we drive down the freeways and find gorgeous trees in green lining the roads.  I'm sure hot and humid is coming but we're enjoying it while we can.  Washington DC Temple Grounds                                                                    Tulips in bloom I had been teaching a conducting and piano keyboard class.  They each have a ...
